I got started in Christian radio with a simple prayer, “Lord I’d like to be in a ministry.”
When I prayed it didn’t occur to me to consider radio as a ministry possibility. But Christian radio is where I finally came to believe God put me. Still, I doubted I’d be in radio very long.
I began my broadcasting career working overnights on the weekends, 11:00 pm to 7:00 am. Months later I realized I got the part-time job because no one else wanted it. Everyone wanted their weekends free. Yet, I was grateful for the opportunity. However, I didn’t know anything about radio broadcasting. Fortunately, the on-air staff coached and taught me stuff. I didn’t know the equipment. I didn’t know what to say or how to talk. In fact, the first time I said something on the air the studio phone immediately flashed it’s tiny incoming red light and an annoyed voice asked, “Who was that?”
That call was well over 25 years ago. Christian radio became my ministry. I learned some things. From part-time weekends I eventually talked with people from various states in the USA and foreign-to-me lands via Internet. My farthest response came from the Czech Republic. In between I’ve been a radio manager and talked into a studio microphone for nearly every imaginable radio situation. I had fun!
In January 2011 I retired. But I couldn’t retire from my passion of pointing people to Jesus. So, I decided to provide a way for people to keep talking back to me should they desire. Enjoy what you find here. If you have a question or comment, let me know. Your life has meaning …
