Today’s Challenge: Fact Checking Christianity

It’s no mystery.

It can be fact-checked.

WHAT’S FAITH?

Experts, some of whom were called Bible teachers, encouraged me to live each day by faith in faith.

What does that mean?

They taught me to just keep on keeping on with God when circumstances appeared hopeless, especially a situation beyond human resolution.

This meant playing mental gymnastics. Faith in faith isn’t for cowards. Yet, what happened after all the grunting, sweating, and psychological injuries? Rarely anything.

Doubting is a non-starter,” they said. “No gain without pain,” they said. “Never give in or give up,” they said. “Have faith (in faith).” they said.

ANOTHER EXPLANATION

I’ve also been counseled that to live by faith in faith requires a temporary suspension of reasonableness and common sense.

And this means?

  • Standing still,
  • Staying quiet and not
  • Speaking any accusation against God, (no matter what).

What’s more, I’ve been told God sees details clearly, which I don’t.

Does this make sense?

>>>

PRACTICING

Hebrews 11:1 reads, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (ESV).

This doesn’t define faith-in-faith.

So how do I understand the Christian faith and make it mine?

How do I practice it if I do not perceive any perceivable evidence?

FAITH?

Certainly, God exists outside my five senses.

  • God is not a sound I hear,
  • Not a sight I see,
  • Not a taste sensation,
  • Not a touch I feel,
  • Not an aroma I smell.

(But can use any or all of these senses if God chooses).

Does that make sense?

>>>>>
ON THE INSIDE
  • Can I grow up and get strong in my faith?
  • Can I eat meat and wash it down with a glass of milk?
  • Can I witness it?

Faith is a challenge.

Yes, it is.

Yet words such as confidence, assurance, trust, reliance, and conviction are alive inside of faith.

FAITH’S EVIDENCE

Examples:

  1. “Go wash in the Pool of Siloam” takes faith action.
  2. Putting your faith into action provides certification.
  3. Faith in action is God speaking everything into existence.

The argument for existence is all around us. It’s a part of reality. And taking the next breath is assurance, confirming that faith has substance.

SUMMING IT UP

Christianity is different from religion, it is not faith in faith.

It’s based on actual eyewitness evidence of a physical phenomenon that happened, Jesus’ resurrection.

This event launched a movement.

Jesus’ ministry before and after his death and resurrection was seen and documented by many.

Some of these documents, after being carefully certified for reliability, made their way into a collection now called the New Testament (Covenant).

Christianity is founded on solid, trustworthy evidence. The resurrection of Jesus.

Go ahead and fact-check it.

Audio:

There is an actual battle going on.

It’s being fought on three levels:

  1. the physical level,
  2. the physiological level, and
  3. the spiritual level.

Sometimes all three levels at once.

We can get ambushed by what we don’t know. Especially when we’re asked to accept what appears to be beyond our reason and five senses. This makes it difficult to embrace the truth.

But Christianity has a firm foundation. Jesus’ resurrection.

You can verify it for yourself. Please do.
